Port Aransas Texas Treasure
While I'm not kiteboarding by the Jetty, I enjoy going for a cruise on the Texas Treasure. The Texas Treasure is an old cruise ship that is now used as a sailing casino. The ship sails twice daily six days a week from Port Aransas on the Harbor Island side of the ferry landing. Aboard the Texas Treasure gamblers may enjoy live entertainment in the showroom while on the 9-mile voyage to international waters. The slot machines are not turned on until approximently 55minutes into the 5 hour trip. However, while waiting for the slots to turn on you can sit down to a spectacular buffet dinner.
While enjoying your retirement or vacation in Port Aransas, TX be sure to check out the Texas Treasure.

Port Aransas, TX - Home
The last couple days we have been cursed with very light winds which is really rare here. However, it's supposed to be blowing 40mph tomorrow!
With my couple days off from kiteboarding I have been working a lot on some very cool new websites. I'll keep you updated. Thanks for stopping in! Dan

Kyle's Visit
I'm back in Port Aransas, Texas. I was in New York for ten days to get some work done at Highroller Customs. Now I'm back on the beach and enjoying my retirement! My girlfriend Kyle came out to visit for a week and we had an awesome time. I usually live off Spaghetti O's and pizza, so when she got here we decided we would have to enjoy some of Port Aransas 's famous seafood restaurants to change up our meals a little bit. Our favorite restaurants were: Castaways and Moby Dicks. If you ever get a chance to go to Port Aransas, TX I suggest you try these two places or any other great seafood restaurant in Port Aransas, TX. We also went to see Pat Green in concert with the Randy Rogers Band in Corpus Christi, TX at the Concrete Street Amphitheatre. Corpus Christi, TX is about a 45 minutes from Port Aransas, TX.
Last Wednesday we had some really high winds from the east (directly onshore winds). We even had a tornado watch for Port Aransas, TX and two funnel clouds, but they didn't touch down luckily. To make things worse there were very high tides. Needless to say in the morning when I walked out of the door of the RV I was pretty shocked. Instead of my RV being next to the Gulf of Mexico, it was in it. There were even 4-5" waves breaking underneath my RV and going another forty feet past my RV. We were forced to leave the beach because it was completely flooded and move into a nearby RV park for the day/night. Sadly, I don't have any pictures of the RV in the water because if I waited longer my tires would have sank down into the sand.
Last week was also Spring Break week in Port Aransas, TX. The beaches that were usually empty were packed with spring breakers. It was fun to watch the madness but I'm glad I have my beach back now. With the beaches packed it made it pretty hard to kiteboard.
As always be sure to check out my ads, it helps me stay in retirement.

The Long Trip to Port Aransas, Texas
Well on Feburary 16th (2008) I packed up my RV and headed for Port Aransas, Texas. Why Port Aransas, Texas? Well Port Aransas, Texas is known for having lots of sun (yearly average of 72F) and beautiful beaches. However my main reason for going to Port Aransas, Texas was for the wind. The wind is a must for the new sport that I took up called Kiteboarding. More about that later though. I also have friends in Port Aransas that are kiteboarders/jetskiers as well. Khan and Julie are the ones who got me into kiteboarding and informed me about Port Aransas.
Well the trip down took three and a half days. I didn't have many troubles excepts for a thermostat on the RV sticking and the insane prices of gasoline. I had to take an alternate route once I got near Memphis. Just west of Memphis, from southern Canada down to the top of texas was a huge storm. They were calling for high winds and there were all kinds of tornado warnings. So I decided to head south to Baton Rouge instead of heading west. It was a couple hours longer this way but I probably would have lost a lot more time if I went west towards the storm. All in all it was a boring trip to take alone but it was pretty relaxing.
Once in Port Aransas, Texas I stayed about two weeks and did a lot of Kiteboarding with Khan and Julie. For those two week I parked the RV right on the beach in Port Aransas. Most of the time I was the only RV on the whole beach. Well Thats enough for now. Please be sure to check out the ads I posted, it really helps me out.
